Hi!
I was wondering if we could share some of the places our kids take regular or semi-regular classes.

My kids take a weekly art class in Acton MA at www.Actonart.com They have homeschool classes for kids on Tuesdays from 1:30-3 or 2-3, depending on the class you sign up for (really depending on your child's age). They run two classes simultaneously for kids 5-8 years and 9+. Some moms take the older class with their kids; I don't because I have two toddlers.

What else is there around here?

Cathy

One of the places Chloe takes classes (and fulfills her phys ed. "requirement") is at Maury's Kung Fu on Main St. in Worcester (http://www.mauryskungfu.com/). They have wonderful programs for both kids and adults, and for the kids, at least, they focus on self-confidence, teamwork, leadership skills, and setting and achieving goals.

Chloe has been there for 3 years, and has learned so much, not just about martial arts, but about life and herself. The instructor is excellent, and the kids have a great time. There are several other homeschooled kids who attend classes there, but they're not a "homeschooling" place per se. They also have several other schools in the area - check out their website, or go for a trial class. I highly recommend them!

I don't know much about homeschooling - could anyone tell me a little more about it? I 've actually never thought about an alternative to public schooling. How did moms that decide to homeschool come to that decision? what are the pros and cons? what type of education do the kids get?

Hi Cathy, I just want to add to your inquiry that we are looking for a science class or group, something as a base that we can work from, even if it meets only once a month, I have a few ideas of what we will do, but I'd like to get other folks ideas.
